Two-Time Spirit Award Recipient: Dieynabou Diallo

2024 June Kasper Spirit Award Winner + 2026 Bettie Brand Spirit Award Honoree

A Guinean-American physician, mother, and global health advocate redefining what’s possible.

Overcoming Challenges

Dieynabou Diallo has never taken the easy path - but she’s forged one for others to follow. A first-generation college and medical school graduate, Dieynabou earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine while also becoming a new mother. Without generational wealth or institutional support, she navigated the dual intensity of long clinical shifts and infant care with remarkable clarity and grit. Every step forward was driven by her commitment to improve the health and dignity of communities like the one she came from. Her ability to lead, serve, and persevere - while raising a child and founding two nonprofit organizations - makes her an extraordinary example of strength, purpose, and transformation.

Looking Ahead

Now officially Dr. Diallo, Dieynabou is charting a global course in medicine. She co-founded The Standard, focused on sustainable development in West Africa, and helped launch the Guinean Medical Society, a network supporting diaspora-led medical equity initiatives. With a passion for maternal and child health, she is also spearheading efforts to deliver lifesaving medical supplies to underserved clinics and mentoring young women of color entering medicine. As she moves into residency and deeper service, Dieynabou is raising the bar for what’s possible - living proof that motherhood, medicine, and mission can thrive together.
